Tyler: So Kat, you have been a webmistress for some time now, and you have one of the most popular pokemon community on the web, what brought you all this success?
Kat: One thing.. persistence! You just can't give up (hint hint). If you quit, you lose. No matter how hard it gets, no matter how boring at times it can be, no matter what drama occurs.. you just have to keep going.
Tyler: Awesome, now, during this climb to V3, have you had any problems along the way.
Kat: The longer you're around, the more of a reputation and presence you establish, so by sticking around and always being reliable really goes a long way. If I could sum up "how to be successful in one word, it would be "PERSIST"
Tyler: Awesome, now, during this climb to V3, have you had any problems along the way.
Kat: Oh lord. Many Bad stuff is always happening. There was a lot of drama occuring during the transition into EHQ2, which was the first PHP-powered EHQ The transition into EHQ3 took almost a year and was very stressful The coding of EHQ4 is going a lot better - it's been planned out much better - and I'm hoping to get it all finished soon, with Electron & Navarr
Tyler: Wow... I never expected so much to happen during that time, now was there any great advances in your site, which have changed both your community, and yourself as coder.
Kat: Of course o.0 EHQ went from a simple HTML fan website to, albeit it badly coded, dynamic PHP-powered community. And the longer I worked at it, the better I got. EHQ became quite efficient and well-coded with version three, and my skills have advanced enough that I've gotten into things like Ajax and Javascript for v4.
Tyler: Wow.. Ajax? O_o Thats amazing. So, have there ever been anytimes when you just wanted to give up?
Kat: Well.. yes and no. Sometimes I just wanted to ditch an idea, or redo something completely, or just cancel projects. But in the end, I just give it some time, work it through, and it resolves on its own
Tyler: Ok, now for a quick question.. Do u liek mudkip?
Kat: Ewwwwwww
Tyler: Ok, xD Back to the interview. So, do you have any thoughts to be passed on to current/future webmasters/webmistresses?
Kat: 'Course. My suggestion is to buckle down and learn something new. Don't stick to what you know and what's been done. Learn Ruby, learn Perl, do something interesting. Build something that's never been built before.. really apply yourself and do something fresh and the community will flourish
Tyler: Great Thanks for all your time Kat, now one last question. What made you transition from Eevee-chan to Kat?
Kat: Well for a lot of years I've gone as Eevee-chan. And.. well, I'm 16 now, and after a while I've felt like I've really outgrown the name. I still go by Vee, but I wanted to kind of break out of my "shell"
Tyler: Really? Cool! Anyhow, thanks for all your time, and I hope to see you soon.
